Giving Back

Giving back to our community is an essential part of our vision at the Autumn Goddess Retreat.  In our first year, we raised over $70 to help Lucy Waldeson, a young girl with neuroblastoma.  In 2010, we raised over $400 and collected many items for the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County.  With your help, this year we our continuing this tradition and supporting two local charities.

Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania

The Speedwell Wolves

In the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch country, quietly secured on 22 acres of natural woodland, you will find the home of the Speedwell Wolves. For over 20 years the Darlington Family has offered refuge to Wolves who have found themselves without a place in the natural world. It has been over a hundred years since the last wild Wolf was known to exist in Pennsylvania.

Originally created as an educational facility, the Sanctuary has allowed the Wolves, as nearly as possible to associate as a pack, choose their mates and raise their offspring. The Wolves of Speedwell hold a unique position as Ambassadors to the wild. It has been said that “the best wolf habitat resides in the human heart.” Perhaps it is also that the best habitat for our own wildness resides in the heart of the Wolf.

The Sanctuary currently provides food, shelter and veterinary care for over forty Wolves with no government or corporate assistance. Only, by your continued support and interest do the Wolves thrive.

Jars Of Hope

The Family Center of Gap offers a number of services for the local community, including Jars of Hope, a food bank that serves food to the families of Lancaster County.

We will be collecting donations for Jars of Hope at the admissions table and at the concert.  Please click here for a list of items that they need to help support the community.

Please note that toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning products, pancake syrup, and health and beauty needs are on the top of the list.  They would love to have some gift cards as this helps get milk and cheese when needed.  They also have a need for specialty items that they either cannot obtain or have to buy in bulk through CAP or CPaFB, like diabetic and salt free items.

Jars of Hope also features a thrift shop that assists in raising money to support the family center.
